In Arroyo de la Luz, a village located in the
Province of Cáceres, collecting the craft tradition,
Mr. Luciano Salgado Aparicio founded, in 1920, what we know
today as Herlusa. After eight decades of experience the
knowledge passed on from one generation to another, has
allowed us to obtain recognised products derived from pork
with an excellent aroma and taste under the trade mark of
"El Arroyano". In Herlusa, we take care of the details in order to make our products unique, controlling the production process: selection of race, feeding, raising and sacrifice; and the subsequent preparation of meat so that our products can be elaborated and cured, guaranteeing the taste we are characteristic of. El Arroyano sells, among others, one of its specialities, the popular "chorizo from Arroyo", well-known in the whole of Extremadura as a unique delight to the palate. Likewise, El Arroyano markets cured ham, loin, salami, black pudding with potatoes, with onion, and so we offer a wide variety of manufactured and cured products made with the same care as the best craftsmen. The curing process through climatic controls, lets us get the appropriate temperature and environment; in a cold and dry place to get a slow drying, inside a silent and dark cellar to mature, achieving the aroma, taste and quality of El Arroyano cured hams. After years of hard work we have obtained the Guarantee of Origin and Quality "Dehesa de Extremadura". Our Iberian cured hams from the pasture of Extremadura are guaranteed by a strict quality control, being unique products to be tasted. This is a pioneer company in the province of Cáceres and in Extremadura, with installations approved by the European Union; owning slaughterhouses, quartering rooms, stuffing factory and ham curing. Following traditional secrets, our staff carefully select the types of meat, giving each one the taste, colour and shape, which distinguish the products of El Arroyano.
